A 1955 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) El Gaucho Goofy, the 1955 Jack Kinney Walt Disney Argentina Pampas animated animation cowboy western family cartoon short (Goofy is a Texas cowboy who is magically transported to Argentina, where he, and the audience, learn all the differences between American cowboys and Argentinean gauchos) featuring the voices of George Johnson (in the title role as Goofy), and narrated by Fred Shields. Note that this was originally a section of the 1943 Walt Disney feature "Saludos Amigos", made during the time when American studios felt that South America in general, and Argentina in particular, could be a major market for American films (with Europe closed off because of World War II). The entire movie dealt with South America, with both animation and live action. In 1955, Disney saw a chance to make extra money out of this movie by releasing this cartoon on its own. Even though it was made in 1943, it was not first released as a standalone cartoon until 1955! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper of ANY sort from this Goofy cartoon is beyond rare! We have never had anything from the 1943 release, and this is the very first time we have had this 1955 re-release one-sheet, and we have never had anything else from that re-release. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the vertical fold between the middle and bottom crossfold and in the left half of the bottom horizontal fold, with very minor wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
