An Original 1954 Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Europa '51 (released in the U.S. in 1954 as "The Greatest Love"), the 1951 Roberto Rossellini ("Directed by the one man who could make it so great!") Italian post-World War II (WWII) romantic melodrama ("Bergman's back!"; "The event and the performance the motion picture world has waited for, for four long years!"; "Would she lose her husband, her home? - Her answer will stun you!"; "Her first motion picture in four long years!"; "The performance she'll be remembered for most! Passionate and poignant - a many-mooded woman with a one-track heart!"; "The life she wanted could lose her a husband, a home... the choice she made will stun you!") starring Ingrid Bergman ("Achieving new depths of drama and emotion!"), Alexander Knox, Ettore Giannini, Teresa Pellati, Giulietta Masina, and Sandro Franchina. Note that Ingrid Bergman was in a major scandal in the late 1940s, when it was revealed she had had an affair with director Roberto Rossellini while still married to her first husband. This was at a time when such events could end one's career, and it was thought that Bergman's career was over. But she took some time off from making movies, and after a four year absence, she appeared in this movie directed by Rossellini, who she had married in the meantime and had children with. This movie was promoted in the U.S. with the tagline "Bergman's back!", and its story line paralleled that of Bergman and Rossellini's real life romance. Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster has some creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges and tiny paper loss in the upper left corner. Learn More about condition grades
