Lee Asian crime mystery romantic melodrama sequel ("The mysterious sign of vengeance wars of the Return of Dr. Fu Manchu"; based on the novel by Sax Rohmer; in the first movie, The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu, the movie ended with Fu Manchu apparently dead, and the young lovers planning to marry; this sequel opens with their planning their wedding, when it turns out that Fu Manchu is NOT dead after all, and most reviews say that this sequel is better than the first movie!) starring Warner Oland (in the title role as Dr. Fu Manchu), O.P. Heggie (best remembered as the blind man who befriends the monster in "The Bride of Frankenstein", and also as the next door cellmate to Robert Donat in "The Count of Monte Cristo"), Jean Arthur, Neil Hamilton, Evelyn Hall, and Tetsu Komai. Finally, note that, as noted above, the movie has two similar titles. In the pressbook, the title is given as "The Return of Dr. Fu Manchu", but the posters shown in the pressbook use the other title "The Return of Fu Manchu"! Also, the jumbo lobby cards and still use the "The Return of Dr. Fu Manchu" title. So obviously, they used both versions at the same time, and we don't know why! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still. Condition: very good. The top 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
