She had a promising career after she had a significant role in 1951's Detective Story (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), but soon after, she was caught up in the HUAC investigations, and she was blacklisted. It was not for 10 years before she again appeared in either a movie or television, returning with a role in TV's "Peyton Place". Some of her other movies include: Shampoo (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Voyage Of The Damned (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and Landlord (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film).
