Now On The Screen!"; "Based on the play 'Picnic' by William Inge", "Screen play by Daniel Taradash, prize winning screen writer of 'From Here to Eternity'"; "The Pulitzer Prize Play is now a prize picture in CinemaScope and in color by Technicolor"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a drifter coming into a small town to meet with an old frat buddy who also happens to be the son of the richest man in town) starring William Holden, Kim Novak (in her fifth credited movie role!), Betty Field, Susan Strasberg, Cliff Robertson, Rosalind Russell (billed as "co-starring Rosalind Russell as Rosemary"), and Arthur O'Connell (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Belgian poster measures 14 1/2" x 20" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster once had a snipe across the top blank area, and the snipe is no longer there, so that area is slightly lighter than the rest of the background. There were minor creases down the center of the poster and a few minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking.
