eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4z452 TUNES OF GLORY British quad '60 great headshot art of John Mills & Alec Guinness! Date Sold 5/5/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) Tunes of Glory, the 1960 Ronald Neame English Scotland World War II (WWII) military melodrama ("Colonel Jock Sinclair drank with his men... And sang and danced with them... until that day, when a shot rang out... and he stood alone!"; "You're a soldier's woman, Mary - and if that doesn't say much for your chastity it says a load for your heart!"; "A clash of wills, pride and ambition that exploded into a personal war!"; about two Scottish officers, one from a working class background and the other from a high class background, and the tremendous clash between the two of them and the regiment that they run) starring Alec Guinness ("With all the pride and power of his Academy Award-Winning performance in 'The Bridge on the River Kwai', Alec Guinness as Colonel Jock Sinclair, creates his most memorable screen portrait!"), John Mills ("winner of best actor award for 'Tunes of Glory', Venice Film Festival, 1960."), Dennis Price, Kay Walsh, John Fraser, and Susannah York (billed as "introducing Susannah York"). Note that this was Susannah York's second movie appearance (her first was "There Was a Crooked Man"), but oddly, she was billed as "introducing Susannah York". I guess you could technically say that "introducing" doesn't mean her very first movie, but that certainly seems like a technicality to us! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this English movie! Also note that this British quad was folded vertically three times and horizontally three times (this being folded one time more than is sometimes done, but it is quite common with British quads, especially older ones). Because of this, this quad can be sent in one of our standard size flat packages (but if it is purchased together with quads that have not been folded in the same way, then it will of course have to be sent in one of our tubes if the other quads are unfolded, or, if it is purchased with other quads that are only folded once horizontally than it can either be sent in an oversized flat package, OR in a tube). But if this quad is purchased by itself (or solely with other quads that have been folded the same way), then the shipping can be lower, because it then fits in a standard package. But please realize that because this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time it is likely that the creases have diminished and therefore re-folding the poster will likely bring some of those creases back, but we leave that decision as to whether or not to re-fold the poster up to the individual buyer of this item. UNLESS THE BUYER TELLS US OTHERWISE, THIS QUAD WILL BE SENT ROLLED IN A TUBE. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
