An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Six-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 81" x 81") (Learn More) Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that any posters from this early comic book adaptation are very rare, likely because the movie came out during World War II. I have never seen or heard of another example of this six-sheet! Also not that this six-sheet was printed in 4 sections. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was clearly never used. The two smaller pieces are in nearly excellent condition, with next-to-no separation at any of the crossfolds. There is a censor stamp in the bottom right corner of the image, fortunately almost entirely in the background, and touching the edge of the tiny credits. The larger piece that includes the top right of the image has separation on just a few of the crossfolds, but is otherwise in really excellent condition, except for a censor stamp that is in the top right corner (again, it is fortunate the that censor stamp is almost completely in the background, just touching the edge of her hair). The large piece that contains the top left of the image was the portion of the poster that was on the outside when the poster was completely folded. There are separations at all the crossfolds, and there are four tiny tears and a tiny hole of paper loss in the portion of the foldline that runs below the man in the brown suit's left elbow. Overall, I would say that this poster has survived in about as good condition as a 60 year old six-sheet could survive, with the exception of the two censor stamps, which are in very unimportant areas, and are easily painted over by a talented professional. The poster has no restoration of any kind, and does not even have a pinhole! Learn More about condition grades
