An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #3 (The Brink of Disaster) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Phantom Rider, the 1936 Ray Taylor cowboy western serial ("The mystery man of the plains rides again!"; "15 chapters thrill packed with dangerous adventures!") starring Buck Jones (in the title role as Buck Grant), Marla Shelton, Diana Gibson, Harry Woods, Joey Ray, Eddie Gribbon, Helen Shipman, Frank LaRue, and George Cooper. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! Also, we have seen two (so far) chapter title lobby cards with the very embarrassing spelling error of "The Phamtom Rider"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. We have only previously auctioned a pressbook, a glass slide, and some lobby cards from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a few tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had pinholes around the edges, with a few scattered in the image.
