Date Sold 5/3/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Monster From the Ocean Floor, the 1954 Wyott Ordung ocean octopus monster scuba diving underwater horror thriller ("Terror strikes! ...from beneath the sea!"; "Terror strikes from beneath the sea!"; "Up from the forbidden depths comes A Tidal Wave Of Terror!"; "See... Fierce battle with man-eating shark!"; "See... monster creature of atomic age!"; produced by Roger Corman) starring Anne Kimbell, Stuart Wade, Dick Pinner, Wyott Ordung, and Inez Palange. Note that the octopus-like monster in this movie (like virtually all 1950s monsters) is strangely attracted to beautiful women in skimpy outfits. What do the monsters do with the girls after they catch them? NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned this poster once before, and that was 12 years ago, when it auctioned for $330. We can certainly understand why it is so rare, because it has one of the most fun and wacky images of any 1950s horror/sci-fi movie posters, and the image works much better on this half-sheet than it does for the other size posters for this movie! Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster has light staining in the bottom right corner, with an irregular tear and tiny paper loss in the bottom left of the inset image. It has diagonal creases in the right corners and a long faint diagonal crease in the upper right corner that extends into the palm tree. There is a 1" tear and a 1/4" tear in the right of the bottom border and a 1/2" tear in the middle of the left border. Other than the above, the poster is in nice condition. One could certainly display and enjoy it as it is, in spite of the defects, or it would be a pretty simple restoration to correct the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
