Born in Trier to a middle-class family, Marx later studied political economy and Hegelian philosophy. As an adult, Marx became stateless and spent much of his life in London, England, where he continued to develop his thought in collaboration with German thinker Friedrich Engels and published various works, of which the two most well-known are the 1848 pamphlet The Communist Manifesto and the three-volume Das Kapital. His work has since influenced subsequent intellectual, economic and political history. Marx has been described as one of the most influential figures in human history and his work has been both lauded and criticized AND Friedrich Engels was a German philosopher, social scientist, journalist and businessman from the 1840s to the 1895. Engels founded Marxist theory together with Karl Marx and in 1845 published The Condition of the Working Class in England, based on personal observations and research in Manchester. In 1848, Engels co-authored The Communist Manifesto with Marx and also authored and co-authored (primarily with Marx) many other works. Later, Engels supported Marx financially to do research and write Das Kapital. After Marx's death, Engels edited the second and third volumes. Additionally, Engels organized Marx's notes on the Theories of Surplus Value, which he later published as the "Fourth volume" of Capital. He passed away in 1895 at the age of 74 AND Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (better known as Lenin) was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician and political theorist from the 1900s to the 1920s. He served as head of government of the Russian Republic from 1917 to 1918, of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic from 1918 to 1924 and of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Under his administration, Russia and then the wider Soviet Union became a one-party communist state governed by the Russian Communist Party. Ideologically a Marxist, he also developed political theories known as Leninism. He passed away in 1924 at the age of 53. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
