An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) Jailhouse Rock, the classic 1957 Richard Thorpe rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) crime prison romantic musical ("His first big dramatic singing role!"; about a young man who is sent to prison for manslaughter, and while there he is helped to become a singer/musician by an older convict, and after he is released, he becomes a major rock star!) starring Elvis Presley ("At His Greatest"), Judy Tyler (who sadly died in an auto accident before the release of the film), Mickey Shaughnessy, Dean Jones, Jennifer Holden, and Anne Neyland NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bradshaw Crandell Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had two horizontal folds 1" apart in the top third of the poster, running across the middle of Elvis' face, and two more 1" apart, running through the top of the small image at bottom. There were some creases and scuffs on all four folds. There were pinholes in the corners and some creases and tears around the edges of the poster. There was some surface paper loss in the lower right border and a 3" diagonal tear near the bottom of the right border, extending solely into the red background. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that after the poster was paperbacked, it was slightly roughly handled, and there is now a 2" horizontal crease in the lower right border and a 3" crease 2" below that, and a 2" crease in the lower left border, and those creases are in both the poster and the paperbacking (they are not very noticeable, and would diminish if the poster is kept flat under weight). The poster would display well framed just as it is, or additional restoration could be performed (either with or without re-backing the poster). Learn More about condition grades
