An Original Vintage Theatrical Australian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Twenty Million Miles to Earth, the 1957 Nathan Juran science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller ("Technical Effects Created by Ray Harryhausen"; "Out-of-Space creature invades the Earth!"; "Monster of all space-monsters! Not since 'King Kong' anything like it! Beast from Outerspace unleashed on Earth! Whole cities leveled as Monster doubles in size... every night! World-wide havoc! All Mankind threatened!"; "Terror from outer space!"; "Story by Charlott Knight") starring William Hopper, Joan Taylor, Frank Puglia, John Zaremba, Thomas Browne Henry, and Sid Cassel. Note that the producers of the movie wanted to keep the appearance of the monster (called the Ymir) semi-secret, so the posters for this movie only show a small portion of the Ymir! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! This poster has something VERY UNUSUAL about it. What is that? The person who owned it had a home movie theater, and they had a large collection of one-sheets, and they would display them when they showed the movie, and they needed a way to protect the posters while they were being handled, and keep them from being damaged while on display. He came up with a solution that we have not seen before. He had a thin sheet of laminate plastic placed over the BACK of each one-sheet, BUT NOT ON THE FRONT (as is normally done when laminating the poster). If you have ever seen "laminated" posters, they are often covered with very thick plastic material on both sides. THE LAMINATE PLASTIC USED HERE IS A THIN MATERIAL. While we have never seen this before, it actually works well! The front of the poster is no different then it was, but the plastic on the back greatly helps protect the poster from tears or other defects (this is the same principle that was used decades ago when they would kraftback posters moving from theater to theater, and as with kraftbacking, the posters with this laminate plastic on the back CAN be folded as normal, as this poster was). WE DON'T KNOW HOW EASY OR HARD IT WOULD BE TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC FROM THE BACK (although there are a few where the plastic is separating, indicating it surely CAN be done), but the buyer of this poster will have two options. They can either keep the poster exactly as is, and if they display it, no one will even know about the plastic laminate on the back, or they can have a restorer remove it. Either way, DO NOT BID ON THIS POSTER UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT IT HAS THIS ON THE BACK (but NOT on the front). Finally note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]. Condition: good. The poster has laminate plastic on the back only (see above: but NOT on the front). It was trimmed along the lower blank border. It has discoloration at the top and bottom crossfolds. Learn More about condition grades
