An Original 1924 (from the first release of this movie in Russia) Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Russian Movie Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 39 1/2" [72 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

Through the Back Door, the 1921 Jack Pickford & Alfred E. Green silent poor-little-rich-girl family relationship comedy melodrama (about a rich girl who is sent to live with her nurse when her mother re-marries, and she grows up poor, and she returns to her mother, but feels so out of place that she gets a job as a maid instead!) starring Mary Pickford, Gertrude Astor, Wilfred Lucas, Helen Raymond, and C. Norman Hammond. Note that Mary Pickford's brother is billed as co-director, but he was certainly hired because of his sister, and one wonders how much "directing" he did!

Artist: Iosif Vasilyevich Gerasimovich
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Russian poster! Note that this poster is from before World War II. "Pre-war" Russian posters (especially ones from silent movies) are incredibly scarce, no doubt due to huge paper shortages suffered during the war.

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It had paper loss in the top left blank corner, with a V-shaped area of paper loss to the right of that, that slightly extended into the border. Someone performed restoration to those two areas without backing the poster. It also had a tiny area of paper loss in the right blank corner and in the bottom right corner that were also restored. It has small tears and smudges in the rest of the borders that were not restored, and it has a 1 1/2" tear near the center of the bottom border that extends into the border of the image, with tiny surface paper loss at the top of that tear. This very rare poster can certainly be displayed exactly as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed, either with or without backing the poster.
