An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 37 1/4") (Learn More) La Chartreuse de Parme (released in the U.S. as "The Charterhouse of Parma"), the 1948 Christian-Jaque French/Italian romantic religious melodrama (based on the novel by Stendhal; about a handsome young archbishop who pursues romance in spite of his vows, and he ends up killing a man and going to prison, where he romances the jailer's daughter) starring Gerard Philipe, Renee Faure, Maria Casares, Lucien Coedel, and Louis Salou. Note that this movie was slightly under three hours long, and it was first released in two parts, as "part 1" and "part 2". First release posters from any country are extremely rare! Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is tattering and paper loss in the borders and background around the edges of the poster. Note that this Mexican poster is somewhat fragile! Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
