An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 1/2" [120 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) Hingabe (released in English-speaking countries as "Crucified Hearts"), the 1929 Guido Brignone Austrian/German silent religious family melodrama starring Hans Adalbert Schlettow, Marcella Albani, Stewart Rome, Hans Melzer, and Clementine Plessner. We were unable to find out more about this movie, but the only poster we have ever auctioned, a French poster, shows the leaf actress tied to a gigantic cross, apparently about to be crucified, and we don't know if this is metaphoric or something that occurs in the movie. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which we have never auctioned before (it is the one referred to in the description above)! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears, tiny bits of paper loss, and smudges along several of the folds, and some scuffs scattered in the solid colored areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
