An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Postman Always Rings Twice, the classic 1946 Tay Garnett romantic love triangle murder crime film noir ("Their Love was a Flame that Destroyed!"; "The Book that Blazed to Best-Seller Fame!"; "Based on the novel by James M. Cain"; about a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who gets a drifter to kill her husband, and it seems like they will get away with it, but will they?) starring Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames, Audrey Totter, and Alan Reed. Note that this movie was re-made in 1981 by Bob Rafelson, starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card for this classic movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned it before! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. The card had a pinhole in each corner and some tiny brown stains scattered in Turner's dress, but they are not very noticeable, and there is a pinhole near her waist. There are similar tiny brown stains in the upper left white background areas, with a few faint smudges scattered in the other white background areas. It had a faint horizontal crease running from 1" above the bottom of the left blank border across the bottom of the bottom and through Garfield's hand. Someone used the back of the card to advertise a different movie, and there is writing and two pictures of stars were glued to the back of the card (but they are no longer present), but because the card is on thick stock, what is on the back does not affect the front at all. Our consignor asked if we thought this card should be restored prior to auction. We told him that we did not think so, for three reasons! First, because we think the defects are slight enough that the new owner might well want to simply keep this extremely rare window card completely unrestored. But even if the new owner wants to restore it, by not restoring it first, all the bidders can see exactly what defects the card has, and they can also choose exactly which restorer to use, and how much restoration to have performed. Whether this window card is restored or not, it will display incredibly on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
