An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]) (Learn More)

Batman is a comic book superhero created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 for DC Comics. He made his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 (not long after Superman), and he was soon given his own comic book as well, and both were incredibly successful. While Bob Kane received all the publicity for creating Batman, it appears that the lion's share of the credit should have been given to Bill Finger (and also Jerry Robinson, who created The Joker and many other iconic elements of what made Batman Batman). Batman's "regular" villains include: the Joker, Penguin, Ra's al Ghul, Two-Face, the Riddler, the Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Clayface, and Killer Croc. The Batman franchise has spread to almost all forms of media including books, television shows (including an insanely popular show starring Adam West and Burt Ward) and many super successful films (including ones with the new darker Batman, known as "The Dark Knight").

Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". We provide images of the comic book covers, plus 2 interior 2-page spreads, which should allow you to get a sense of the condition of this comic book.

This is one of an excellent collection of 138 vintage comic books we were consigned, which we are auctioning in 138 separate auctions. NONE of these comics have any restoration (unless noted in our condition description) and all of them came from a small group of collectors who purchased them mostly when they were first published, and none have been "slabbed" or "graded"! And EVERY one of these 138 comics (including some really excellent ones) start at $1 with truly no reserve. This is the kind of buying opportunity every comic book collector dreams of, and when these auctions close on January 16, every one of these comics will have a new owner!

Condition: good to very good. Note that this comic book will be sent to the winning bidder in a brand new Mylite2 protective sleeve and a half-back 100% acid-free backing board.
