An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Phony Express, the 1926 Richard Smith & Scott Darling silent cowboy western romantic comedy short ("Bluebird Comedies"; about a wagon train which is attacked by Native American Indians, and a corpulent hero saves the day) starring Karoly Huszar (billed as "Charles Puffy"), and Elsie Tarron. Note that star Karoly Huszar was a Hungarian actor who made many movies in Germany. He came to Hollywood in 1924, and appeared in a lot of comedy shorts (literally as the "heavy"), but around 1928, he returned to Europe, likely because of the shift to sound movies, and he likely spoke little English or heavily accented English. He appeared in German movies, including The Man Who Laughs, and he made many more movies in Europe, and he retired in 1938 and passed away in Japan in 1942.

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some extra horizontal folds, with pretty minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen on the left and right edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
