An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Ace in the Hole (also released as "The Big Carnival"), the classic 1951 Billy Wilder crime newspaper journalism film noir ("Written by Billy Wilder, Lesser Samuels and Walter Newman"; about a washed-up newspaperman who finds a man trapped in a cave-in and delays his rescue to get a better story!) starring Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling, Robert Arthur (billed as "Bob Arthur"), Porter Hall, Frank Cady, and Richard Benedict. Most people believe that this movie was first released under the title "Ace in the Hole", but that when it was not very well received, the studio quickly created all new paper with the new title "The Big Carnival" (perhaps to confuse people as to the subject matter of the movie). Most collectors treat the movie paper with either title as "first release", but some collectors consider the material with "Ace in the Hole" to be less common, and therefore more desirable!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded somewhat oddly, resulting in some creases along portions of the vertical foldline, with some tiny creases, tears, and bits of paper loss and separation along portions of the center vertical foldline (affecting the center of Sterling's image and Douglas' hand - see our image). There is some drip staining in portions of Douglas' shirt and his shoulder, and it has creases along a few other portions of the folds. It is otherwise "all there" after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
