An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures approximately 7 1/8" x 10 1/4") (Learn More) Weird Science-Fantasy was a science fiction-fantasy anthology comic from the early 1950s. This comic was published by Bill Gaines (William Gaines) through his company, EC Comics (E.C. Comics), which he inherited from his father in 1947. Over a 14-month span, the comic ran for seven issues, starting in March 1954 with issue #23 and ending with issue #29 in June 1955. The comic, edited by Al Feldstein, was a merger of two previous bi-monthly titles, Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. This was the merger of the two earlier EC science fiction comic titles published by Bill Gaines (later publisher of Mad Magazine). They were Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. They did not sell nearly as well as the horror titles, but Gaines and Feldstein loved science fiction, and they stuck by these titles, although when sales declined, they combined them into this single title, which then further changed to "Incredible Science Fiction". Since the ending of publication, all of the EC comics have been reprinted many, many times, in many formats, and there have been several movies and TV series based on them! Artist: Frank Frazetta Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this comic book, which has Frank Frazetta's only solo cover for EC, and many people consider it one of the best comic book covers ever, and in incredible condition, it sells for well over $10,000! As noted below, it was drawn for a Buck Rogers Famous Funnies cover, and the man on the cover had Buck Rogers' helmet, and Frazetta re-drew it without the helmet! The reason Frazetta did so little for EC was because Gaines insisted on getting to keep the original art, and Frazetta refused, and in this one instance, Gaines relented, but never again! Contents: Final issue of the series (becomes Incredible Science Fiction). "The Chosen One" (art by Wally Wood), "Vicious Circle" (art by Al Williamson with Roy Krenkel), "Genesis" (art by Reed Crandall), and "Adam Link in Business" (art by Joe Orlando; from the story by Eando Binder). Note that due to the greater interest in this comic we have pictured EVERY single page of this comic, which means that you can see EVERY defect the comic has, AND get a good sense of its condition. If in doubt, do not bid!. Condition: fair to good, with old restoration. The comic had separation, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss at the spine, and some creases and scuffs scattered in the cover, more so in the top half.
