An Original Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More)

Sanma No Aji (released in the U.S. in 1964 as "An Autumn Afternoon" and also as "The Widower"), the 1962 Yasujiro Ozu Japanese family relationship melodrama (about a widower who has an adult daughter who takes care of him, and he kindly arranges a marriage for her) starring Chishu Ryu, Shima Iwashita, Keiji Sada, Mariko Okada, and Teruo Yoshida. Note that Yasujiro Ozu was a legendary Japanese writer and director from 1920s to the 1960s. He is likely the second best regarded Japanese director after Akira Kurosawa, and many of his films are considered classics, and his masterpiece is "Tokyo Story" from 1953, although he made movies from 1927 to 1962. First release Japanese posters of any kind from any of his movies are beyond rare!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned this poster twice before and the last one sold for $1,250! Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! Also note that this poster was tri-folded only (which means there is no vertical machine fold) but because it would be more expensive to send flat, it will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster was tri-folded only and has minor fold and border wear. It has unevenly darkened throughout with a brighter area of paper at bottom. There are some tiny dot stains at lower left and over the lower edge. The poster is otherwise "all there" and after linenbacking with some proper restoration it would look great!
