An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29" x 43 1/4" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Spite Marriage, the 1929 Edward Sedgwick silent romantic love triangle revenge comedy (about a lowly "pants-presser", a tailor's assistant, who falls in love with a beautiful star of a Broadway show, and attends every performance; when she is jilted by her leading man, she gets drunk and marries the pants-presser, but when he realizes that she only married him out of spite, he leaves and goes to work as a sailor, but he ends up on the same yacht that she is on, and he rescues her, which causes her to realize she really does love him!) starring Buster Keaton, Dorothy Sebastian, Edward Earle, Leila Hyams, and William Bechtel NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: A. Wagener Important Added Info: Note that first release U.S. posters from this classic Buster Keaton title are beyond rare, and are virtually never offered for sale or at auction. This first release Argentinean poster is surely equally as rare (we have never auctioned it before), and it has a wonderful symbolic image of bridegroom Buster Keaton inside of a giant gold wedding ring. Condition: good to very good. The poster has small separation and tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some very tiny bits of paper loss in the vertical fold between the top and bottom crossfolds, and in the left of the top horizontal fold, with minor wear on the other folds. There is a 1" vertical tear 3" to the right of the top crossfold and a matching one 3" to the right of the bottom crossfold. There are tiny pinholes in the borders. There are some small tears and tiny paper loss in parts of the bottom blank border and in the lower left blank border, and two small areas of paper loss in the lower left of the poster, almost completely in the blank border. There are a few faint stains scattered in the image. There is unevenness to the background coloration that looks like it could have been intentional, but it extends into the border in a couple of areas, so we wonder if it is perhaps a printing defect. Certainly, the new buyer of this poster will need to choose exactly how to have it restored (and whether they will leave the background areas alone or make them the exact same color), but either way, the new owner of the poster will have an incredible and extremely rare poster to display on their wall!
