A Set of 7 Original Vintage Special Movie Studio Promo Cards (measure 5 3/4" x 9 1/4" [15 x 23 cm]; each is contained in a sleeve that measures 9" x 12") (Learn More) First National Pictures was an American motion picture production and distribution company. It was founded in 1917 by Thomas L. Tally and J.D. Williams as a merger of 26 first-run cinemas in response to Paramount's market domination. First National partially merged with Warner Brothers in 1928, and then completely merged in 1936. First National has the distinction of making the first million-dollar contracts in the history of film, with Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin! Important Added Info: Note that these cards come "certificates of authenticity" from Period Paper (each card has a certificate attached to the back of the backing board they are bagged into). It seems likely that these promo cards were part of some special set created by First National in 1919, and we don't know how many cards there would have been in the entire set, but we do know there was also a Charlie Chaplin, which we are separately auctioning in its own auction. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. Each card is bagged and boarded with a certificate of authenticity on the reverse.
