An Original Vintage 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Our Gang (also known as The Little Rascals or Hal Roach's Rascals) is an American series of comedy short films chronicling a group of poor neighborhood children and their adventures. Created by Hal Roach, the series was produced in various forms from 1922 to 1944. The franchise began as a series of silent short subjects produced by the Roach studio and released by Pathe Exchange. Roach changed distributors MGM in 1927, and the series entered its most popular period after converting to sound in 1929. Production continued at the Roach studio until 1938, when the studio's Our Gang production unit was sold to MGM, which produced the comedies until 1944. As MGM retained the rights to the Our Gang trademark, some of the Roach-produced films were re-released to under the title The Little Rascals, and that name become so well-known that later media (such as comic books) was often released under that name. The Our Gang/Little Rascals franchise has also branched out into features films, books, comic books, games, and more. AND Hal Roach was a legendary producer of mostly comedy shorts from the 1910s to the 1940s (he is credited as the producer on over 1,200 of them!). He was the guiding force behind the Our Gang shorts, the Laurel & Hardy films, and the early Harold Lloyd films, among many, many others. In the early days, his films were released through Pathe. Later, he began distributing through MGM, and he sold his assets to them in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 100! Important Added Info: Note that this still has been slightly trimmed and it now measures 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm]. Condition: good to very good. All the blank borders were neatly partially trimmed. There is paper loss in three corners, a tear in the left of the bottom border, and a tiny tear in the upper left of the image background.
