A 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Radio Publicity Still (Learn More) Dark Victory, the 1938 romantic medical doctor high society melodrama radio play (about a wealthy woman who finds out that she's dying of a brain tumor) starring Barbara Stanwyck and Melvyn Douglas. Note that this is most famous as a 1939 Hollywood movie starring Bette Davis. But it started as a Broadway play, and then was adapted into this CBS radio version with Barbara Stanwyck. We imagine the reason Stanwyck did not star in the movie was because she was a Columbia star, and the movie rights were bought by Warner Bros., who gave it to their top star, Bette Davis. We wonder what the movie version with Barbara Stanwyck would have been like, but alas, we will never know! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good.
