Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the lobby card was backed onto a very light paper backing (acid-free), that keeps the "feel" of the lobby card similar to that of the original lobby card. Some restorers prefer to paperback lobby cards on to a heavy backing, while others prefer to use a very lightweight backing. The advantage of a lightweight backing is that the card still "feels" like a regular lobby card, but a heavier backing makes restoration easier to do and less noticeable. Also note that this card has been graded and authenticated by mpgrading.com. This means that a corner of the card has been "encrypted with a unique 9-digit serial number with invisible DNA-laced ink", which can be seen with a special scanner, and this info has been attached to a separate Certificate of Authenticity. On that certificate, the card ha been given a grade of "fine (6.5) - RG", but of course, that grading scale is not the same as ours, and on ours, we grade this card as "good" (see below). Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. It had some smudges and faint stains scattered throughout. Overall, the lobby card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was pretty well backed, but two defects occurred after it was backed. One is a tiny chip from the top left corner of the "G" of "H.G. WELLS" and the other is a "lifting" of the bottom left corner of the card from the paper backing (in the blank area, where there had been a tear). Certainly, any talented restorer could repair these two defects without re-backing the card, but bear them in mind before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
