An Original Vintage Autographed 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm] Still (Learn More) Jean Hersholt was a much-liked Danish actor who made 142 movies, mostly between the middle 1910s and the early 1940s. He had a series of movies where he played the benevolent Dr. Paul Christian, but he is surely best remembered today for his many humanitarian deeds, including helping found the Motion Picture Relief Fund, and his name is attached to one of the most prestigious Academy Awards, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Some of his movies include: Greed, Dinner at Eight, and Grand Hotel. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 69. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Jean Hersholt to fellow actor & child star Frankie Darro (he signed it "To my young friend, that splendid little actor Frankie Darro, With my sincere wishes for your future")! Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm]. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 4 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who has been a major collector of movie memorabilia for many years. During that time, in addition to purchasing items one at a time, he would sometimes purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together some of his autographed items and consigned some of them to us. So all of these 5 autographed items we are auctioning were purchased by this collector either from longtime dealers or other collectors, and we feel it is certain that the autograph on this item is authentic!
