An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Rio Rita, the 1942 S. Sylvan Simon south-of-the-border romantic musical screwball comedy ("The Daffy-Dilly Jubilee of Mirth and Music!"; "Special Material by John Grant"; about not very bright entertainers at a Mexican resort, and they meet Nazi agents who try to trick them into smuggling contraband into the U.S.) starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Kathryn Grayson (in the title role as Rita Winslow), John Carroll, Patricia Dane, Tom Conway, Peter Whitney, Eros Volusia (a sexy Brazilian dancer; as herself), and Joan Valerie. Note that the contract that Abbott & Costello had signed with Universal allowed them to make one movie a year at a different studio, and this movie was made with MGM (they made two other MGM movies in 1944 and 1945). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had many tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the vertical fold, and there was an extra horizontal fold just above the regular bottom horizontal fold, with an irregular tear in the hair of the kissing woman at bottom right. There was a lesser amount of wear on the other horizontal folds. There were pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, with a few stains. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
