An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Manila Calling, the 1942 Herbert I. Leeds World War II (WWII) Philippines military patriotic tropical island romantic adventure thriller ("The fighting Epic of America's first Guerrilla fighters!"; about Americans stranded in Manila after the Japanese invade, and they make a short wave radio and broadcast information about the Japanese troop movements, even though it ultimately results in their deaths) starring Lloyd Nolan, Carole Landis, Cornel Wilde, James Gleason, Ralph Byrd, and Martin Kosleck NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and a few creases and tears alongside some foldlines. There was a 4" scuff mark in the right of Nolan's shirt and on Landis' fingers. There was a 10" tear in the bottom center of the image, 3" to the right of the vertical foldline. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not at all distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
