Shokutaku no nai ie (released in the English-speaking countries as "Masaki Kobayashi's Empty Table"), the 1985 Masaki Kobayashi Japanese family-dealing-with-a-son-who-has-shamed-them-publicly melodrama (I have not seen this movie, but it seems fascinating!; it is about a man who takes part in a terrorist shootout, and how his father refuses to apologize for his son's actions, and how it tears the entire family apart; "A beautiful and intensely gripping film from one of Japan's greatest directors") starring Tatsuya Nakadai, Mayumi OgawaKie Nakai, Kiichi Nakai, Takayuki Takemoto, and Shima Iwashita
