An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 29 3/4" x 39 3/4" [76 x 101 cm]) (Learn More) Ian Fleming's Thunderball, the 1965 Terence Young English James Bond 007 secret agent spy espionage fantasy action adventure thriller ("L007k up! L007k down! L007k out!"; "Here comes the biggest Bond of all!"; "Based on the original story by Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham and Ian Fleming") starring Sean Connery (as James Bond 007), Claudine Auger, (as Domino) Adolfo Celi (as Largo), Luciana Paluzzi, Rik Van Nutter, Martine Beswick, Guy Doleman, Molly Peters, Bernard Lee (as "M"), Lois Maxwell (as Miss Moneypenny), Desmond Llewellyn (as "Q"), Paul Stassino, Bob Simmons, and Rose Alba NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Robert McGinnis Important Added Info: Note that this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie, has had censor paint placed over the images of the sexy girls. This was almost surely done when the movie played in Ireland, because Ireland was notoriously unwilling to have any posters with any sexy images on them, and there are many examples of other posters that were used in Ireland that had similar heavy-handed censorship. We can't say for certain that this is when the censorship occurred, but it seems extremely likely. Depending on how you look at it, this can be seen as a major detraction, but it can also be seen as a very interesting example of how censorship was performed in 1965, likely in Ireland! Also note that this British quad measures 29 3/4" x 39 3/4" [76 x 101 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair. All four images of the girls were heavily censored with black paint applied over portions of their bodies (see our image, and read above for more on this). Also, there are two tape stains in the upper left, where a snipe was once attached, and there are brown and black small stains scattered in that area. There are pinholes and some small stains around the edges, with tears in the upper right border and tiny paper loss in the lower right border. There is tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases along the folds. IMPORTANT! Our experience with posters like this is that the censor paint CAN'T be easily removed, even by the most talented restorers, because it often "bonds" with the paper, and anything that would remove the censor paint would also remove the ink under it. We can't say for certain this is true, but do not bid on this poster assuming that the censor paint is removable by a restorer. It may be that the only solution would be to have it repainted over with the correct image. Of course, some people might well choose to leave the poster exactly as it is, as a very interesting example of how censorship was performed in 1965! Learn More about condition grades
