An Original Vintage Shoes (size 7 1/2B; see below for more) (Learn More) Marilyn Monroe is one of the greatest larger-than-life movie stars ever of the 1950s, and surely the greatest sex symbol of all time! She appeared in several memorable movies including: Some Like It Hot, The Prince & the Showgirl, All About Eve, The Asphalt Jungle, The Misfits, The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monkey Business, and Niagara. The last film that she worked on was Something's Got To Give in 1962. 20th Century Fox blamed Marilyn for the production being behind schedule, and fired her in June (the film was never completed). In August, she was found dead in her home from an apparent drug overdose, and her death was ruled a suicide (though there are theories that foul play was involved, and even in 2024, many people do not feel it was an "accidental" death). Important Added Info: These Salvatore Ferragamo pump shoes (size 7 1/2B; completely encrusted with Austrian cut crystal rhinestones) were auctioned at Camden House Auctioneers in their October 1990 auction, where they sold for $2,090 (they were described as "from her personal wardrobe" and that Marilyn reportedly "wore them when she sang Happy Birthday to President Kennedy", and they had been consigned by Evelyn Moriarty. The person who bought them contacted Miss Moriarty and received a letter from her in 1993 stating the above, and adding that she originally wore them in "Let's Make Love" in 1960, and that Marilyn loved them so much, that the studio allowed her to keep them. Since Miss Moriarty was Marilyn's double in Let's Make Love, and since the shoes look the same as a pair of shoes Marilyn wore in that movie, we feel it is a certainty that these shoes were worn by Marilyn in Let's Make Love, and that Marilyn gave them to Miss Moriarty at some point afterwards. As far as her wearing them again when she sang Happy Birthday, we think that is surely a legend that grew over the years, with no substantiation, and since photos of Marilyn at that that event show her wearing different shoes, we know this is just a legend, and did NOT occur. But this is a rare opportunity to purchase shoes worn by Marilyn in a movie that came directly from her double in that movie! Included with the shoes is a plastic box holding some rhinestones that fell off, and also the letter from Evelyn Moriarty, and also the Camden House catalog, and also some pictures of the shoes. Note: We have 11 images of the items in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 11 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 1. Condition: good to very good. Some of the rhinestones fell off of the shoes. They will be sent separately together with the shoes. No doubt they can be reattached, but that will be the option of the new owner of these. We have taken a number of photos of the shoes from different angles so you can get a good sense of their condition. Learn More about condition grades
