An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Africa Speaks!, the 1930 Walter Futter jungle safari wild animal documentary ("The strangest romance ever filmed!"; "Thrilling adventure in the unexplored regions of Equatorial Africa"; "Produced by the Colorado African Expedition, Inc.") featuring Paul Hoefler (who was the man who went to Africa, and who wrote a book of the same name about his experiences), Harald Austin, Charles Gemora (as a gorilla), and narrated by Lowell Thomas. Note that this movie was first released by Columbia Pictures in 1930, but was then re-released by Mascot at some point in the 1930s, and then by Sack Amusements in 1942 (no doubt the movie proved popular in small towns, likely because it contained the obligatory topless native women, that almost all similar movies contained).
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1930 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two lobby cards and a glass slide from this movie until we received this one-sheet!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster had tiny bits of paper loss in the left half of the middle fold and in the vertical fold between the middle and bottom crossfolds. It had very minor wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
