An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Blot, the 1921 Lois Weber silent romantic teacher poverty melodrama ("A Lois Weber Production"; about a professor who teaches rich teens and poor teens side by side; the rich people care nothing about the plight of the poor people, including that they barely have enough food to survive; but when a son of a rich family falls for a daughter of a poor family, he awakens to the need for people to care about everyone, including those society has left behind) starring Philip Hubbard, Margaret McWade, Claire Windsor, Louis Calhern, and Marie Walcamp. Note that director/producer Lois Weber was the first woman ever to direct a feature-length film (in 1914). She had been an actress beginning in 1908, and by 1916, she had become Universal Studios' highest paid director, and she had an assistant director named John Ford! She is completely forgotten today, except by major film buffs, which is very sad, because she is an extremely important person in the history of movie-making!

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a half-sheet and a different scene card from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this second scene lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

What IS gelbacking? Learn More

Condition: very good. The card had a few pinholes, smudges, and stains around the edges. Overall, the card was in very good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the card displays really well!
