A Vintage Autographed Hardcover Book (measures 5 1/2" x 7 3/4" [14 x 20 cm]; 218 pages) (Learn More) Lionel Barrymore was an actor from the 1900s to the 1950s. He was the brother of John Barrymore and Ethel Baryrmore. Some of his movies include: Rasputin and the Empress (as Rasputin), It's a Wonderful Life (as Mr. Potter), Free Soul (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Madame X (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), On Borrowed Time, Key Largo, Grand Hotel, Dinner at Eight, Captains Courageous, and as Dr. Gillespie in the many "Dr. Kildare" movies. Note that in his later years, he played most of his performances in a wheelchair, leading many to think he was paralyzed! However, it was a combination of two hip fractures as well as arthritis that limited his mobility in later years (by 1938, Barrymore used a wheelchair exclusively and never walked again). He passed away in 1954 at the age of 76. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Lionel Barrymore! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper and autographs who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but he doesn't know how the signature was obtained, and he (and we) believe it is likely that the autograph is authentic. Condition: very good. The dust jacket has some minor wear and is in a protective sleeve. The owner of the book glued his bookplate on the first blank interior page (see our images).
