An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Presskit (measures approximately 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; contains 4 supplements, 4 stills, and 7 35mm slides) (Learn More) An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn, the 1998 Arthur Hiller (billed as "Alan Smithee"; see below) mockumentary comedy ("The movie Hollywood doesn't want you to see."; about a rookie director actually named "Alan Smithee", who is given a terrible movie to make; the movie is filled with cameos by famous celebrities as themselves) starring Ryan O'Neal, Coolio, Chuck D, Richard Jeni, Eric Idle ("as Alan Smithee"), with "Special apperances by" Sylvester Stallone, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jackie Chan. The movie was originally directed by Arthur Hiller, but the screenplay was by Joe Eszterhas. Eszterhas didn't like Hiller's final cut of the movie, and he created his own version, and when the studio sided with Eszterhas over Hiller, Hiller had his name removed from the credits, and it was replaced with "Alan Smithee", which is a pseudonym that is used whenever a director or screenwriter asks that their name NOT be used, and they replace that name with this (this had been done many times in the past). But this outraged the Director's Guild of America and they "unregistered" the name "Alan Smithee", and this is the last film that will ever have that credit. Finally, note that at one point in the movie, the character Alan Smithee says that the film he is making is "worse than Showgirls" (and of course, that was the legendary bomb that Joe Eszterhas, the screenwriter, had himself written!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have taken a picture of the cover of the presskit and eight of the stills (less than eight if the presskit has less than eight stills, of course). We have noted if the presskit contains any supplements, but we do not picture them. All of the presskits are sealed and ready to be sent, and we cannot answer any questions about the contents, especially about what any stills we may have not pictured show. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE TOP OF THIS AUCTION TO SEE HOW MANY STILLS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS PRESSKIT, BECAUSE WE NEVER PICTURE MORE THAN EIGHT OF THEM (and we pretty much picked eight stills at random). Condition: very good to fine. Many of the presskits we are auctioning this week were carefully stored away for many years, and the stills are in really excellent condition. Sometimes the folder that contains the stills has some minor wear on it, and you should be able to see that in our super-sized image. Learn More about condition grades
