An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More) Un Reve Blond (literally translates to "A Blonde Dream"), the 1932 Paul Martin & Andre Daven German musical romantic love triangle comedy (one of the co-screenwriters was a very young Billy Wilder, credited as "Billie Wilder"!) starring Lilian Harvey, Henri Garat, Pierre Brasseur, Pierre Pierade, and Claire Franconnay. This was a French version of "Ein Blonder Traum" and there was also an English version ("A Blonde Dream"), both also made by UFA in 1932. Universal did the same thing with "Dracula" in 1931. They filmed the movie twice, once in English, and once in Spanish, with two entirely different casts, U.S. actors for the English version and mostly Latin actors for the Spanish version, obviously for release in Spanish speaking countries, and the same was done with this movie, except there were three versions (the German language version also starred Lilian Harvey, with Willy Fritsch as her co-star, and the English version also starred Lilian Harvey, with Jack Hulbert as her co-star). So some of the cast members were in more than one of the three versions (no doubt based on how many languages they spoke!), and Paul Martin directed all three, but he had a co-director to help with the non-German languages. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an ultra rare "pre-War" Belgian poster that we have never auctioned before! Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has approximately 8" of separation at the bottom vertical foldline (see our image). It has pinholes and a few other defects around the edges and it slightly fragile. It is otherwise "all there" and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
