An Original Vintage World War I Poster (measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More)

The Greatest Mother in the World, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front charity poster ("Red Cross Christmas roll call Dec. 16-23rd") encouraging people to donate to the Red Cross so that they can provide assistance to those affected by the war, and featuring Alonzo Earl Foringer art of a larger-than-life Red Cross nurse cradling a wounded soldier on a stretcher.
Artist: Alonzo Earl Foringer
Important Added Info: The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing, likely shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from location to location, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. While the poster can be displayed and enjoyed exactly as it is, such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful, but this will be the choice of the new owner of the poster!

Condition: very good. The poster was mounted onto thin linen (see above). It has tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold and some creases around the edges, with a diagonal crease in the bottom left, and the bottom 1 1/2" was folded back at one time. There is slight uneven darkening in the white background.
