An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The House of Secrets, the 1929 Edmund Lawrence buried treasure mystery thriller ("Thrills! Mystery!"; "A 100% Talking Picture"; "Written by Sydney Horler, master mystery maker"; about an American who goes to London, England to claim an estate he inherited; when he gets there, he is forced to sign a paper saying he will never sell it, and he learns that there is a pirate treasure buried there, but there is also a gang of crooks at the house trying to rob the treasure) starring ("with an all Broadway stage cast including") Joseph Striker, Marcia Manning, Francis M. Verdi (billed as "Frank Verdi"), Walter Ringham, Elmer Grandin, "and a host of others". Note that this movie was filmed in both a sound version and a silent version (not unusual in 1929). Also note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1929 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never sold even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet! Also note that this movie was released at the time when studios were rapidly making the transition to sound, and some studios released both sound and silent versions of their top releases. For each of those movies, they issued a set of posters for the sound release (marked "SOUND" at the bottom left), and an entirely different set of posters for the silent release (marked "SILENT" at bottom left). The poster offered here is from the sound release of this movie (it is marked). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. It had extra creases, tiny tears, and fine surface paper loss on most of the foldlines, with many pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. There were horizontal creases and scuffs scattered throughout the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed with very little attempt at restoration. If I owned this really cool (and super scarce) poster, I would surely have it professionally re-backed (after which it will display great, and it will likely not require a lot of paint restoration).
