Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 Fred McLeod Wilcox science fiction (sci-fi) outer space robot monster thriller ("Amazing!"; "In Cinemascope and Color"; "Based on the story by Irving Block & Allen Adler"; very loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest"; about space men who journey to a distant planet, and they find that all the members of the original expedition have died, except for one man and his daughter, and they have discovered the secrets of a long lost civilization called "The Krell", which dwarfs anything humans have ever discovered, but there is a very dark side to those secrets that is soon revealed) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman (as the cook, who was put in the movie for comic relief), Robby the Robot (billed as "Introducing Robby the Robot"), James Drury, and Frankie Darro (who was inside the robot suit until he was fired early in the production for showing up inebriated and almost damaging the expensive prop). Note that after Robby the Robot appeared in this movie, he had another movie role in "The Invisible Boy", and then he appeared in a slightly modified version as the robot in TV's "Lost in Space". On November 21, 2017, the original "Robby the Robot" was auctioned, and it sold for $5.375 million! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card is part of an amazing collection of 132 horror/sci-fi lobby cards (our items #5040 through #5171). Included are 121 title cards from 1950 to 1964, including just about every horror/sci-fi movie made during that period, including all of the most famous titles! Also included is all seven scene cards from "The Day the Earth Stood Still", and a great scene card from "House of Wax". The collector who assembled this collection did so over a span of several decades, and to duplicate it would surely take at least that long, if one started today. But on October 30th, every one of these lobby cards will go to a new owner, as all are being sold with NO reserve. Also note that we have listed these lobby cards in strict alphabetical order. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire rare lobby cards that almost never are offered for sale! Condition: very good to fine. marker writing on the back of the card that bleeds through very slightly in the lower center of the image background (to the right of Robby's thigh); 1/4" tear at lower center in the red background; tape stains at middle left and right as well as a 1" tear and piece of clear tape in the right edge of the card (slightly extending into the green background); small area of surface paper loss and tape stain in upper right corner as well as a pair of staple holes in each corner of the card; minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout the card (mostly around the edges) Learn More about condition grades
