eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result WONDER BAR LC '34 Lease from Hershenson/Allen ArchiveAn Original Vintage Movie Lobby Card (Learn More) Wonder Bar, the 1934 Lloyd Bacon all-star romantic musical ("Warner Bros' Wonder Show of the Century"; "Numbers created and directed by Busby Berkeley"; this movie included many of Warner Brothers' top stars at the time) starring Al Jolson, Kay Francis, Dolores Del Rio, Ricardo Cortez, Dick Powell, Guy Kibbee, Hal Le Roy, Hugh Herbert, Ruth Donnelly, and Fifi D'Orsay. Note that this movie is very controversial because of Al Jolson appearing in blackface, but even more so because of the giant production number "Going to Heaven on a Mule", where around a hundred white actors appear in angel costumes in blackface, and worn out plantation worker Al Jolson (in blackface) enters Heaven with his mule, and both are given their wings. This movie is rarely shown for all of the above reasons. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
