An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) You Can't Cheat an Honest Man, the classic 1939 Edward F. Cline & George Marshall family relationship romantic circus screwball comedy ("Original Story by Charles Bogle", which was one of Fields' many pseudonyms!) starring W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer Snerd (billed as "Mortimer"), Constance Moore, Mary Forbes, Thurston Hall, Princess Baba (as herself), John Arledge, Charles Coleman, Edward Brophy, Arthur Hohl, Blacaman, and Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson. Note that Charlie McCarthy was Edgar Bergen's ventriloquist dummy, but in the movie he is treated as though he is a human boy, and there is almost no reference to Bergen talking "for" McCarthy! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this great lobby card shows all three major stars in close up, with Charlie McCarthy in "blackface"! Condition: very good to fine. this card has two very odd defects. The first is that (in addition to a pinhole in each corner) there was a single pinhole in Bergen's cheek. For reasons I cannot fathom, someone put some sort of restoration just on that area (which I can't understand), but also put some sort of faint glossy film or spray in a thin line running diagonally from his cheek to his lapel. The other odd defect it that, by holding the card to the light (which is the only way I saw the first defect), you can see that there was a thin line from Charlie's hair down to the middle of his nose that is a slightly different color from the rest of his face. It appears there was a fine scratch in that area and that someone put black on the scratch line to make it less noticeable. I can really honestly say that I did not see either of these defects at all, until I started looking at the card from inches away, and even then, I had to tilt it to the light and it was solely the different reflection that showed me these odd repairs. They are not at all noticeable when looking at the card in a normal way, and therefore I can't imagine they would bother virtually any collector who would like to own this rare and wonderful card! Other than these two defects, and the pinholes in the corners, the card is in wonderful condition! Learn More about condition grades
