Note that this movie was based on a popular comic strip that debuted in 1933, which was written by William Ritt, a journalist, and drawn by Clarence Gray. It was pure science fiction fantasy, and it predated Flash Gordon by a year, but it never achieved the same kind of popularity in the United States, although it became quite popular in other countries, including Italy and France (where he was known as "Luc Bradefer", which is "Luke Ironarm"!).
