An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Three-sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40" x 79" [102 x 201 cm]) (Learn More) the 1952 double-bill release ("The Screen's Newest Show Idea! DUO-DRAMA"; "An exciting feature with two famous-author stories... Two outstanding casts!"; "Two classic action stories... Two top casts... In one thrilling feature!") of The Secret Sharer, the 1952 John Brahm seafaring adventure thriller ("From the salty pen of the world's greatest sea-story author... The storm-swept drama of a stowaway charged with murder... And the Captain who could free or condemn him!"; "Joseph Conrad's stirring drama of the sea!"; "Story by Joseph Conrad") starring James Mason, Gene Lockhart, and Michael Pate. AND The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky, the 1952 Bretaigne Windust cowboy western ("Stephen Crane's fun-suspense frontier classic!"; "Story by Stephen Crane") starring Robert Preston, Marjorie Steele, Minor Watson, Dan Seymour and Olive Carey. The movie was written by famous author James Agee who also played a role in the movie. Note that this was a somewhat wacky idea of putting two related movies together on a single double bill, and advertising them together. These movies were related in that they were both from famous authors, Joseph Conrad and Stephen Crane, and the idea never caught on. It was the brain child of Huntington Hartford, heir to the A&P supermarket fortune, and one of the richest men in the world (and extremely eccentric). In the 1950s, he got into film producing, and he produced this unusual double bill as noted above. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
