An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More)

Roberta, the 1935 William A. Seiter romantic musical comedy ("Jerome Kern's queen of musical romances brought to the screen in a glorious sunburst of song!"; "A heart-load of maddening beauties in gasping gowns... a fortune in furs... a ransom in jewels... in a song-studded romance of Paris in lovetime!"; "Jerome Kern's amazing musical stage success.. Ten times as tantalizing on the screen!"; "The brilliant hit of the music stage... Ten times as tantalizing on the screen!"; "A heart-load of maddening beauties draped in fashion's most ravishing creations... in a dream-drenched story of love time in Paris... told to the magic melodies of Jerome Kern"; "Jerome Kern's glorious musical romance... screened in a heart-warming sunburst of laughter and song... ten times as tantalizing as the sensational stage success!"; "Tingle to these dream-disturbing tunes"; "from the glorious play 'Roberta'"; "Book and Lyrics by Otto Harbach"; about a former Russian Princess who is now a famous Parisian designer, and her partner dies, leaving her half of the business to an American football player, who comes to help run the business, even though he knows nothing about it; Astaire plays a bandleader, and Rogers plays a fake Polish countess who was once Astaire's girlfriend) starring Irene Dunne ("the golden girl with the silver song"), Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers ("America's Dancing Stars"; "The King and Queen of Dance unite in the Empress of Musical Shows!"), Randolph Scott, Helen Westley (in the title role as Roberta), Victor Varconi, Claire Dodd, "and Hollywood's rarest beauties in Oh!... What gorgeous gowns!". Note that this movie was early enough in Astaire & Rogers careers that they are billed under Irene Dunne! Also note that the parts played by Astaire and Rogers were much smaller in the original Broadway production (Astaire's role was played by Bob Hope!), but their parts were expanded for the movie version, and of course, several musical numbers were added.

Artist: Irvino Boyer
Important Added Info: Note that most of the posters for this movie have huge images of Irene Dunne, with much smaller images of Astaire and Rogers, but on this great window card, Astaire and Rogers get at least as much of the image as Irene Dunne! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: very good. The card had a blank top that was partially trimmed off. It has darkened somewhat, more so around the edges. It has a 1" tear in the left blank border and a tiny tear beneath it, with four tiny tears in the right border. In spite of the above minor defects, the card will display great just as it is, or certainly, it could have professional restoration performed.
