An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Patricia Morison was an actress from 1930s to the 1980s. She had a very unusual road to stardom!; she was signed by Paramount in 1939 and was touted as a rival to their top female star Dorothy Lamour with the tagline "Lamour plus Lamarr equals LaMorison", but she did not achieve much success there, likely because she only got roles Lamour turned down, and she left Paramount and made low budget movies. It seemed she had a great break in 1947 in "Kiss of Death" when her suicide was shown on screen, but the producers decided audiences couldn't handle it and the scene was cut from the movie! In 1948, Cole Porter heard her sing and wrote the show "Kiss Me Kate" for her, and she starred in it on Broadway for 1,000 performances, and went on to a continued successful career in musicals on stage! Morison passed away in 2018 at the age of 103. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Patricia Morison! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this is an original vintage still from 1948, but that it was signed in 1990. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 17 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a successful business man, and in late 1989, he decided to take up the hobby of obtaining autographed stills! He obtained current addresses of many celebrities of the 1920s through the 1950s who were still alive, and he also purchased original vintage stills on those celebrities (when he could find vintage ones), or he purchased repro stills when he could not find vintage ones. He then wrote a nice detailed handwritten letter to each of those stars, enclosing one or more photos, and he described in detail what he liked about their career, and how much of a fan he was. The celebrities who received his letters mostly replied by sending back the item(s) signed, and sometimes they wrote nice letters as well! Our consignor continued with this hobby for around 2 1/2 years, and over that time he was able to acquire a large number of signed stills, which he has consigned to us. In this set of auctions we are auctioning 18 of his autographed items (and we will auction others from his collection in future "all signed" auctions). We feel certain that the autographs on these items are authentic! Note that each of the 18 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good to fine.
