An Unfolded Film Festival Poster (measures 13 1/4" x 21 1/2" [34 x 55 cm]) (Learn More) Area (19)51 Filmfest, the 2001 film festival poster ("A 50th Anniversary Celebration Of The Greatest Science Fiction Films Of 1951") promoting a festival of science fiction (sci-fi) movies from 1951 to be held June 17th - 23rd at the Englewood Theatre in Independence, Missouri. Many great 1951 horror/sci-fi films were shown in 35mm, and there was a large party, which was hosted by legendary sci-fi/horror memorabilia collector Forrest J. Ackerman and attended by actor Billy Gray from "The Day the Earth Stood Still". The poster for the event features images from several of the films, plus Billy Gray and Forrest J. Ackerman! Of course, "Area 51" is the place where a spaceship is reputed to have landed (complete with dead little green men), and the government is reputed to have massively covered it up. In 2001, this event was held, on the 50th Anniversary of when some of the greatest early sci-fi movies came out (like The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Thing From Another World, Flight to Mars, The Man from Planet X, When Worlds Collide, etc.), and they gave it the name "Area (19)51 Filmfest" as a play on words from the original Area 51.
