A 1948 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Harlem on the Prairie, the 1937 Sam Newfield black African American musical singing cowboy western ("The First Musical Western with ALL COLORED CAST"; "Rootin' - Shootin' - Swing-Swing Entertainment"; "Romance Singing Music Dancing") starring Herb Jeffries (billed as "Herbert Jeffries"), Mantan Moreland, F.E. Miller (Flourney E. Miller), Spencer Williams, The Four Tones, and the Four Blackbirds. Note that Flourney Miller was a major figure in black Broadway musical history, performing and writing with his partner Aubrey Lyles. After Lyles passed away in 1933, Miller appeared in a number of all-black movies in the 1930s and 1940s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and creases and some tiny tears on the foldlines. There were creases, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss in the blank borders. It looks as though the left and right borders were slightly trimmed (blank paper only). Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see some signs of the above defects when you look closely at the poster. Learn More about condition grades
