An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) The Masks of the Devil, the 1928 Victor Sjostrom (billed as "Victor Seastrom"; he was a major Swedish director of the 1910s and 1920s, and late in his life, he turned to acting, giving memorable performances in several Ingmar Bergman movies, most notably "Wild Strawberries") romantic melodrama ("From the book 'The Masks of Erwin Reiner' by Jakob Wasserman"; about a playboy who endlessly chases beautiful women; there are scenes where he stares into a mirror and his thoughts can be heard where he confesses how badly he has behaved!) starring John Gilbert ("His Most Fiery Romance"), Alma Rubens, Theodore Roberts, Frank Reicher, Eva von Berne, Ralph Forbes, Ethel Wales, and Polly Ann Young. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. many water stains, smudges, and scuffs throughout the card; light vertical creases down the center of the card; small tears and tiny paper loss around the edges of the card; This is the sort of poster that responds well to restoration. After paperbacking by a good restorer, the poster would look great and there would not be much paint anywhere on the poster! This window card is in "lesser" condition (it is clearly in less than "very good" condition, and may be all the way down to "fair" condition, as we are selling a collection of early window cards that were found inside of a wall, and those all have water stains and other defects, which should be easily seen on our large images)! This window card has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images. We know that some collectors could accept this window card's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this window card if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored.
