Date Sold 11/29/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) A Debtor to the Law, the 1919 silent cowboy western starring Henry Starr (billed as "The Man Who Stole A Million"; a real-life outlaw cowboy playing himself; he made this single movie and then returned to a life of crime!), Paul Curry (who also plays himself), Patrick Sylvester McGeeney, and Karl Hackett. Note that at the time of the movie's release, the pressbook's advertising claim that Starr had completely renounced his life of crime and had said, decisively, "I'm through", and that it would surely mean that he would never rob again, because "his word had always been a sacred pledge". It also stated that he had recently been informed that land he owned was yielding a huge amount of oil and that he was now "financially independent". Yet just two years after the making of this movie, Starr returned to his former profession of robbing banks, and was shot and killed in 1921 (I guess his gusher didn't pan out!). Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster is somewhat fragile. It has 12" of clean separation in the middle of the vertical foldline and tiny tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the right half of the bottom foldline. There is separation at the ends of some foldlines. After a simple linenbacking, the poster will look great and it will require little paint restoration within the image.
